D14 – Transplant U1

The human body and mind is truly amazing. It’s resilient, powerful, adaptable, and capable of anything. Today is indeed proof of that!

Latasha crushed her physical therapy goals and then some. They just wanted her to walk a little bit, and she walked all the way to the elevator bank and back with only one rest stop—that’s a bit over a 200-foot trip. She had no dips in her O2 saturation or blood pressure.

I think she felt the power of having healthy lungs and a heart for the first time, and her spirits soared. There are a few more hurdles to get her out of the ICU. The medical team has a few more things on the agenda today, and if all goes well, Tasha can have liquids by the end of the day. Fingers crossed.

I am so optimistic and excited to be posting this, but I’m also scared because they keep reminding us that a bad day can occur at any moment, and we shouldn’t get frustrated when it happens.

Until next time.
