D14 – Transplant U2

Today has been such an excellent day for Latasha and me. It is truly amazing what just a day makes. But as I have mentioned a few times, that rollercoaster is tricky. Today just happened to be a fun, downhill “weeeeee” straightaway kind of day.

The suns been shining on our faces, the breeze blowing, and the gentle smell of summer wildflowers is in the air. That’s the kind of day it’s been for Tasha.

Tasha could walk, had two arterial lines removed from her neck and groin, and some other lines adjusted for mobility.

The most significant milestone was that she passed her swallow test and was allowed to eat and drink. She immediately had her coveted Ginergale—two, in fact — and a meal of hearty beef and noodles with broccoli and fresh fruit. It was a meal of champions, especially for her because she’s been the fiercest of warriors to get this far in two weeks.

We watched three episodes of Netflix’s new show, Exploding Kittens, for some much-needed comedic relief. It’s pretty good, by the way, if you’re looking for a mindless, funny show to watch.

She also FaceTimed her family and caught up with them.

I can’t express how proud I am of her and how proud she is of herself. She feels the power of her new organs for the first time today, and that, my friends, is so exciting.

Dreams and goals await her. To the victor goes the spoils!

Tonight should yield tremendous restorative sleep fueled by food, love, and high spirits.

Tasha sends her deepest and most heartfelt thank you for everyone’s love, prayers, and support, and I second that.
