D18 – Transplant Update

Today was a massive milestone for Latasha! She is officially in the transplant step-down unit in a private room. You might ask, what’s next on the agenda? Rest, recovery, continued therapies, and prepping for discharge, hopefully by next Friday.

Tasha walked another 200 feet with the walker and another 50 feet unassisted. We briefly saw Larry, the therapy dog, but physical therapy prevented us from visiting.

Today is the first day I feel truly calm about the next step and the outcome for next week.

Tasha and I look forward to walking around and visiting the sky deck as she gets stronger and exercises her new heart and lungs. I hope the coming days are dull and full of rest and recovery.

With the help of some great loved ones, we sorted out our home-away-from-home in a great corporate apartment on the west side of Cleveland near some great food places. It’s safe and secure, and it’ll be a great home base for Tasha to convalesce for the next 2.5 months.

Now the marathon phase of the journey starts with more testing, poking, prodding, and classes to prepare us for the many hurdles to come in the future.

As always, stay tuned, and thank you for everyone’s continued support and prayers.
