Great news! The second surgery went well. They resolved a blood loss issue, and they were able to close her chest to begin the healing process.
There is still a very long time to go, and this afternoon and evening, I’ll begin the slow process of weaning her off the ventilator to let her test out her new organs.
Slight detour here; Latasha and I have had many a laugh about what the future will look like once she has the energy and breathing capacity to match her brain and inner athlete. We dream about hiking, traveling the world, working out at the gym together, visiting national parks without worrying about elevation, and many more activities.
Back to my update, the medical team is hoping by Friday afternoon, the ventilator can be removed, but that depends on how she responds to the next day’s treatments.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support and messages.
