Today has been quiet, slow, and restful for Latasha. Just the way she needs it to be.
When the doctors stopped by for their daily rounds, all they had on the docket was rest and recovery; Tasha was already crushing that.
The doctors and I had a great chat about transplant statistics, donor issues across America, and all the misinformation about the process of being a donor. It was nice talking about it and sharing some of the thoughts that we both had about it throughout the experience.
I learned about this great informative site called Power 2 Save, One Transplant for Life. You can check it out at https://power2save.org. It has a lot of good information about transplants.
One piece of information of note, and why Tasha’s journey and the marathon are just starting, is on average, only about 50% of transplant patients don’t have massive complications from organ rejection. It is a lifelong battle to stop the body from rejecting the organs; even that process has its own complications. So, moving forward, our lives have changed permanently to fight against rejection.
Tomorrow starts our education phase with more testing, medication adjustments, and rejection testing.
So here are many naps and meals to boost the natural healing process.
