It has been one helluva day, one I would honestly like to redo, but unfortunately, that’s not how life works.
So here is the short of the long. Latasha suffered a pretty significant internal bleed that wreaked all sorts of havoc and ended up with a 30% blood volume loss, which then shocked her system with all kinds of reactions, and now she has a 20% to 30% loss in kidney function. That’s an entirely different issue and a very long post. I will leave that for another time, but the main thing to know is a kidney team that specializes in transplants is getting her through that.
So, to the bleed and surgery. The cause of the bleeding was due to the blood thinners Tasha was on. She was on the blood thinners because of several leg and arm deep vein thrombus (blood clots). She got the DVTs because the HLT was extraordinarily rough and complex, with numerous bleeding issues, which required several blood transfusions, which contributed to the clots. My point is that things are complex and all connected.
Because of this, the thoracic surgeons do not want to make things worse by cutting on her before her system has purged itself of the blood thinners. As of now, she is slated for surgery first thing tomorrow as long as her vital stay solid through the nighttime.
This is certainly not the update I wanted to post this evening. I wanted to post pictures of her and me enjoying some great Cleveland food in the comfort of our home-away-from-home in her pajamas.
As always, stay tuned, stay strong, and stay positive. That’s my primary goal right now. I truly appreciate everyone and those who are always there for me and are sounding boards for me and propping me up with their love and strength.
