D24 – HLT Update – Heading back to OR

Overnight, Latasha was not much better and developed a lot of pain and labored breathing. She is now going to have a fourth surgical procedure for internal bleeding.

The doctors confirmed through X-rays and CT scans that she developed a bad internal bleed on her right lung or in the chest cavity. The positive is that her vitals are staying strong, and she’s fighting back.

There are a few theories on why, but that’s not important right now. What matters is figuring out the issue and stopping it.

Because of this, the medical team has canceled her discharge and is moving her back to the transplant intensive care unit. They have better resources there, and the entire surgical team is based there for quick intervention and response.

Going back into the ICU is not a great thing as it is a setback for Tasha; physically, mentally, and emotionally, it feels like going backward. I keep reminding myself and Tasha that this is for safety and long-term HLT success.

I will keep everyone updated as we go, but as we have all seen here, it’s hour-by-hour and a crazy ride.

Please keep Tasha in your prayers as she navigates this next hurdle.
