D3 – Transplant Update 2

Today has been a slow rollercoaster. Not much has occurred other than slowly weaning Latasha off the sedative to take her off the ventilator.

We’re hoping that we can get to this milestone in the next 12 to 24 hours so she can take her new organs for a test drive on their own.

This will allow her physical therapy and natural healing to begin. I’m not going to lie; I would be missed if I didn’t remind everyone how long that recovery road is.

We have to get through so many milestones for Tasha to go home and then the arduous post-transplant care journey, which is 2 to 3 years, to ensure there isn’t any organ rejection.

All that to say, we are in a medical marathon, so get your good running shoes out, hydrate, stretch, and carb load, and pick out some good music.

Let’s go; it’s time to get it on!
