Today was a busy and productive Monday for Latasha. Although still struggling with lousy nausea, she had a decent day.
Tasha has been able to walk around the unit further each time and is now primarily unassisted, which means her core strength and balance are returning.
Tasha had several X-rays and a DVT ultrasound today to help the medical team devise a plan of action for the week. Since all the scans and labs looked good, they decided to remove the two large-bore chest tubes. Now that that is done, Tasha will have much more freedom and fewer things to tote around.
We’re hoping the remaining tube can be put into a small bulb container rather than the large one so she has full freedom of movement. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that this will happen tomorrow or Wednesday and that it will be removed by the end of the week.
We have no idea or estimate for Tasha’s discharge date. What we do know is that Tasha’s blood clotting has to be under control or remediated by a filter or anticoagulant plan. One requires another procedure, and the other time, both are equally frustrating for Tasha.
I extended our apartment to mid-October to prepare us for an extended stay based on the doctor’s vague projections.
So what’s next? Resting, waiting, and walking on the doctor’s orders for the moment. Tomorrow, we should be able to explore a bit more and have some rooftop time.
Until next time, friends.
