Latasha’s overnight recovery was touch and go with some heart arrhythmia issues that led to having to put her back on a sedative.
Latasha was responsive this morning when I visited her, and she squeezed my and the nurse’s hands.
Small side note: her nurse last night and today are the sweetest ladies. They genuinely care about her as a person, not just a patient. And one of her outpatient doctors stopped by today to see her. He was so excited and overjoyed that she received her gift of life. How cool is that!!!
Back to my update: Latasha has been in and out of consciousness today but tolerates the new sedative better.
As I sit here by her side, they’re prepping for one final bronchoscopy to check inside her lungs. It all is good; they’ll wean her off the ventilator to see if she can breathe with no issues for 30 minutes. If victorious, the ventilator tube will come out.
Then comes the hard part.: Physical therapy will get Tasha moving around and walking. This part of the recovery phase will hopefully be easy for Tasha because, as I’ve said before, she is a warrior and doesn’t know the word no or can’t.
If all goes well, I will share photos of her sitting in her chair with no tube in!!!
More to follow soon.
