As I write this today, I never thought I would be here on day 50 of Latasha being hospitalized after her heart and double lung transplant. Fifty long emotion-filled days. Fifty days of that jarring and long, slow rollercoaster. Fifty days of unknown that felt like an eternity. But here we are!
But here I am, filled with joy and excitement, to announce that Tasha has officially been discharged from Cleveland Clinic. Tomorrow morning, bright and early at 7 a.m., our next chapter of post-hospitalization appointments will start to fine-tune her medications and see how her organ graphs are doing to determine if there are any rejections.
The last few days were excruciatingly dull. We napped, walked, talked, held hands, and watched TV, including our go-to movie series, Harry Potter. We worked on traversing stairs to start doing some leg muscle-building and endurance.
All in all, it was a pretty dull and uneventful weekend. In comparison to some of these high-adventure days, boring was nice.
So, as we start this next chapter of the HLT journey, I will figure out what and how I will document everything and keep the updates coming. I will likely begin to move a lot of the blogging over to the website we built and get it wholly updated now that I’ll have good WiFi and my MacBook available during the day.
So get your popcorn, pom poms, and maybe tissues ready to cheer on Tasha as we navigate this recovery and strengthening phase of the journey. I know Tasha will emerge from this journey stronger, faster, and more determined than ever.
Cheers to Tashas’s gift of life and the dreams she is about to achieve. Lastly, let’s not forget that there is a family grieving and their sacrifice. Thank you, whoever you are!
