D6 – Transplant U2

Today was an excellent moment for Latasha. Not only has she passed all her neurological tests and is fully conscious, but she is breathing on her own with no ventilator!

Her lab results look great, and her blood gas levels are firm.

This is just the beginning of her very long recovery, so we went over celebrating or being out of the woods, but it is a significant milestone for her to begin the natural healing process.

It’s taken a week to reach this point, a bit longer than most patients. Still, we must remind ourselves that Tasha underwent major surgery. Her body is going through a significant physical change, Not to mention the emotional aspect of the entire transplant process.

Hopefully, we will get her to see her sitting in a chair, and the physical therapist will get her up and moving today.
