Transplant is a GO!

After waiting a year on the transplant list, Latasha finally gets her second chance at life. An opportunity to pursue all of her dreams, travel overseas, finish her PhD, achieve postponed career goals, and spend many more years with me, racking up memories and adventures.

She’s struggled with this condition her entire life, and to be so close to being able to enjoy life on her terms is unbelievable.

The excitement and fear is palpable. The surgery is expected to be 8 to 10 hours long. The waiting is going to be excruciating. The recovery is going to be extended. The result will be worth it!

We are going to be here in Cleveland, Ohio, for post-operative care at Cleveland Clinic for 2 to 3 months. The first 30 days are inpatient recovery and physical therapy. Then, regular checkups and treatment are needed to recover and go home entirely. Then, 2 to 3 years of post-op care will be required to ensure no rejection and long-term survival.

The other side of this excitement is extreme sadness for the family that lost a loved one. We are thankful for their willingness to give another family joy and many more memories.

I share all that to say this journey will be long and expensive. Please consider sharing with your friends and family to help us come out of this medical lifesaving journey financially healthy.

We are thankful for everyone who has supported us. The love and prayers have been humbling and most appreciated.

More updates to come soon.
