A Christmas Update

Merry Christmas!

Yes, it’s really me, Latasha, finally posting an update. The last week or so have brought about some changes in how I’ve been feeling, so I felt it was time to post an update from me.

The biggest update is I am finally able to eat food again! I haven’t been nauseated or vomited for several days in a row now, which has been great! I have more energy from eating and keeping the food down. It felt like forever that I wasn’t able to eat food, so I am very happy and grateful to be back to normal.

My mood has improved as well, which has allowed Chris and me to get out of the house to run errands and do things again. We went to the movies with some friends this past weekend. It has felt amazing getting back to doing normal things. Of course, I am being cautious and wearing a mask as appropriate and using lots of hand sanitizer.

Even with these positives, Christmas is very different this year. We didn’t decorate or even put up a Christmas tree. We didn’t buy any gifts for family. I’ve done no baking. This is also the first year we haven’t been with family for the holidays. The last few years, we’ve alternated spending Thanksgiving or Christmas with my family. Not spending time with my family for either holiday this year has been an adjustment. I know it’s for the best, though, as I’m still healing and recovering. I know I’ll get to see them all in a few more months.

A few short weeks ago, I had no idea I’d be writing this post. It felt like my life would never be normal again. It really is crazy how things have changed in the last several days. Thank you to everyone for your prayers, thoughts, encouragement, and kind words as they have helped more than you know. Chris and I appreciate the lovely Christmas cards we’ve received as well. Thank you for thinking of us during this holiday season.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
